This Masterclass is for Qigong/Tai Chi practitioners, patients, medical staff, trainers and all care-givers.

17:00 The Masterclass Talk in the first part of the workshop is the opportunity to learn about the latest science backed recommandations for Qigong and Tai Chi when working with cancer patients. The Talk will be a hybrid event taking place in Vienna and online on Zoom. It will be recorded and you can have access to it later on.

18:00 The Masterclass Workshop will address following topics:

  • What does evidence-based science say about the use of Qigong and Tai Chi in cancer care and prevention?
  • What is the golden standard for Qigong & Tai Chi after decades of research at Harvard Medical School?
  • What should be considered when practicing Qigong with cancer patients?
  • Are there specific exercises to avoid?
  • How do you deal with the fear, worries and inherant medical burden?
  • Is it best to practice during or shortly after chemotherapy?
  • How can I best support cancer patients during convalescence with Qigong?

Program:

17:00-18:00 : Talk with Prof. Dr. Byeongsang Oh with Q&A at the end

18:00-20:30 : Workshop with practical part to discuss cases, questions

Prof. Dr. Byeongsang Oh is ​Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney, and visiting Professor at the University of Kansas Medical School, USA. 

Dr Oh is currently collaborating in integrative oncology research with Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Yale University and Arizona State University.

He is an internationally recognized integrative oncology practitioner (evidence-based complementary and lifestyle medicine) with clinical and research interests in Medical Tai Chi/Qigong mind-body medicine and lifestyle medicine including the microbiome. 

He introduced integrative medicine services at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), GenesisCare, and the Mater Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and specializes in integrative oncology. Dr Oh has research and clinical experience at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Harvard Medical School (HMS), USA, and has collaborated in integrative oncology research projects with DFCI, HMS, Arizona State University, and the University of Kansas Medical School. Dr Oh is one of the founding members and current president of the International Medical Tai Chi Qigong Association (iMTQA).

Registration:

Registration is mandatory. There is a limited amount of free spots for the talk only. 

The fee for the workshop and talk as well as recording of the talk is 47€.
